NEED:
Facilities Manager/Washington, DC
POSITION OVERVIEW:
Performs most difficult and/or complex facilities assignments within a building complex. Provide technical guidance to lower-level facilities technicians and subcontractors. Must be able to respond to after-hours emergencies.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
* First point of contact for all aspects of the day-to-day maintenance and operations of the Washington, DC office
* Must be able to take ownership and full responsibility for the facilities supervision of this site
* Initiate review and implement procedures and policies for the effective operation of the facility
* Provide reporting as required necessary to the Senior Managers
* Ensure that safety inspections and other requirements are fulfilled
* Work with landlord regarding maintenance and other building related issues
* Coordinates facility related maintenance/repairs (electrical, mechanical, heat, ventilation and air conditioning repairs or replacement, roofing repairs, insurance claims, janitorial, etc.)
* Assist in asset management
* Assist with budget related issues for the site
* Provide timely and accurate direction to contractors to ensure that maintenance/repairs are done on time and within budget
* Assist with projects relating to Facility Maintenance issues
* Coordinate minor space changes and modifications, which may include items such as deploying surplus furniture and assisting in the relocation of employees
* Responsible for preparation and maintaining emergency evacuation procedures, in conjunction with office safety committee
* Supervise on-site facilities staff (receptionist and mailroom)
* Position will report to GSS Eastern Region Facilities Deputy Manager
Qualifications
SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:
* Exceptional customer service ability
* Must have strong supervisory skills and be able to information in an open and collaborative manner
* Excellent oral and written communication skills, with ability to communicate with Senior Management
* Must demonstrate effective facilitation, conflict management and problem solving skills
* Project Management skills, including ability to plan and organize
* Must be self-motivated
* Good understanding of buildings' mechanical/operating systems
* Strong negotiation skills
* Must be able to respond to after-hours emergencies
PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
4-year degree in Business Administration (or equivalent) and 10 plus years of experience in a corporate facilities capacity including at least 2 years of lead/supervisory experience.
