Description
The Project Manager – SAP HCM Implementation is responsible for overseeing the implementation and deployment of SAP HCM applications aligning HR business objectives and IT strategy. He/she provides overall management and definition to the SAP HCM implementation project.
The SAP HCM implementation will start in the Americas followed by a global rollout. The position will include design of the detailed SAP HCM implementation plan, leading the ITT SAP implementation team, managing the relationship between the project team and business stakeholders, and delivery to business units. Frequent travel through the world is anticipated.
The overall scope of responsibility for this position includes:
· Business, technological and operational deployment responsibility for SAP HCM applications
· Creating metrics to be used in the “post implementation/deployment” phases to validate the achievement of benefits and ROI objectives, and;
· Maintenance responsibility for SAP HCM applications in their initial operational phases.
Problems and Challenges
Implementation of a global Human Capital Management system providing seamless integration of employee data with disparate local systems worldwide to provide real-time visibility to information on all employees is one of the primary challenges of this position. This position requires people and time management skills in directing a variety of activities, in addition to an understanding of the ways in which HR business operations is impacted by information technology. The position requires supervisory/management experience and the flexibility to deal with people at a variety of levels; internally – HR HQ and business unit staff, IT HQ and business unit staff, Senior Executive staff, and externally - auditors, third-party contractors and suppliers, and industry associations.
Essential Position Functions
Principal Accountabilities
1. Develop and manage, in conjunction with consulting counterpart, the overall scope, work plan, and budget; providing day-to-day direction and quality review of work products.
2. Identify and manage resource needs and staffing process.
3. Establish and maintain project methods, procedures, standards, and tools for key activities and work products based established ITT PMO practices.
4. Assist with project issue resolution and with facilitating the interaction between the functional and technical teams.
5. Communicate project status, direction, and issues to steering committee and key stakeholders.
6. Confirm and control the scope, reviewing significant scope or schedule variance.
7. Assess project risks and take appropriate action.
8. Responsible for facilitating successful delivery of all aspects of project
9. Prepares objectives and budgets to facilitate the orderly and efficient implementation and deployment of HR business solutions.
10. Implements and monitors compliance with statements of policies and procedures during the deployment process to assure that proper documentation is maintained and that the required controls are implemented.
11. Creates metrics and measurement that will be used in the implementation and deployment process to validate the achievement of enterprise objectives, including return of investment benchmarks and productivity gains.
12. Manages the change management process scope or defect issues arise in the implementation and deployment process.
13. Works closely with business management on implementation deployment including: setting priorities, coordinating work efforts, and reporting project activities.
14. Managing cross-functional team on integration points between SAP HCM modules and/or legacy applications performing impact analysis on integration issues as required.
15. Works closely with other groups within the business and IT to coordinate plans and activities.
16. Develops and reviews cost estimates for personnel requirements, new deployment and implementations tools or applications, and external consulting.
17. Participates in the hiring, training and development of personnel; appraises subordinate performance, and applies employee disciplinary measures when required.
18. Identifies statements of necessary policies and procedures to assure proper documentation and communication of necessary controls.
19. Develops and manages effective working relationships with other departments, groups and personnel with whom work must be coordinated or interfaced.
Education and Experience:
* Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Business, or a related discipline; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
* 7-10 years of IT and functional experience with three or more full life cycle implementations of SAP HCM with project management experience and a bias towards Personnel Administration, Organization management, and Employee Self-Service modules.
* Demonstrated experience in all phases of the SAP ASAP implementation methodology including: testing, configuring, production management, interfaces, enhancements, and upgrades.
* Demonstrated experience with the other SAP HCM areas, e.g. Time Management, Benefits and Compensation Planning to support the integration points.
