Job Summary:
Works with the Senior Associate Vice President, Dean of the College, assistant and associate deans, as well as faculty to direct the identification, cultivation and solicitation of principal and major gifts for the College of Professional Studies (CPS).
Minimum Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and 6 years of appropriate experience.
Desired Qualifications:
Master's Degree.
A minimum of five years' progressive fund raising experience, with specific experience in major gifts and board development.
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
Excellent communication skills.
Working Conditions: The incumbent generally performs job duties in a normal business office environment. This involves working while sitting at a desk for extended periods of time. The job also includes significant event planning and execution, which requires a significant level of physical activity, including standing, walking, and occasionally lifting office supply items that may weigh up to 20 pounds. Additionally, the incumbent may be required to attend meetings in other offices, or deliver and/or retrieve information from other offices around campus.
The ability to operate basic office equipment such as personal computers, duplicating machines, fax machines and standard office telephones may also be required.

Function:
Works extensively with the CPS Dean and others within the College to identify priority needs for principal and major gifts and prospects related to the College of Professional Studies.
Works with the Dean and others and with the Vice President of Development and Alumni Relations to establish programs for the cultivation of identified principal and major gift prospects, including visits with the Dean and/or others, social events, advisory boards or other efforts.
Develops plans and strategies for soliciting principal and major gifts from alumni, faculty and friends in support of capital and current operating campaigns.
Serves as a senior member of the University Development office staff and coordinates with other Development senior management on prospect assignments and fundraising strategies.
Identifies and recruits volunteer leadership and committee members; prepares written and visual materials and organized sessions to train volunteers in the most effective techniques for soliciting gifts.
Conducts, and accompanies volunteers on visits with, potential donors; provides necessary staff support, including research reports, written proposals, introductory and follow up letters.
Utilizes considerable initiative, independence, originality and responsibility for development new methods and techniques.
Travels regionally and nationally to conduct principal and major gift solicitations.
Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
Responsibility for the College's goal in the University-wide comprehensive fund raising campaign; supporting the Dean's interactions with the EVP for Academic Affairs and the President of the University relative to this goal.
Creating and managing a College-level advisory board for CPS, including recruiting and soliciting of members, managing the volunteers, and organizing and executing the board's regular meetings.
