Assistant Head of School – K12 International Academy

The Assistant Head of School for the K12 International Academy (iCademy) is an instrumental role in developing a successful K12 school.  This person will work closely with the Headmaster and other academic leaders to develop a mission, vision, and philosophy for the school and the families.  This person will be responsible for coordinating all academic aspects of the school including the mastery of the curriculum by the teachers, encouraging teachers’ professional development, and understanding the demographics of students in order to help them achieve academic success.  This school leader will become a liaison to K12 corporate office to ensure open communication and dialogue primarily regarding K12 curriculum and academic achievement of the students.


The Assistant Head of School will:

    * Coordinate all academic aspects of the school
    * Ensure that the student academic performance, progress, and attendance is compliant with school requirements
    * Be responsible for Educational Policy Development
    * Manage teaching staff:

        o    Recruitment/hiring

        o    New teacher orientation

        o    Annual professional development calendar and sessions

        o    Teacher evaluation

    * Manage Master and Lead Teachers and programs
    * Manage teacher training budget and program
    * Manage teacher matching to students
    * Develop and oversee implementation of the school’s Student Achievement Improvement Plan
    * Develop and maintain relationships with school partnerships, educational stakeholders, and K12 corporate staff
    * Coordinate communication and project assignment for virtual teachers
    * Support the creation of an active global school community through newsletters, virtual outings, and the bigthink12 postings
    * Create general and formal student/teacher/parent communication mechanisms
    * Contribute to budgeting and long term iCademy planning

 

 

In addition to the above school-specific responsibilities, the Assistant Head of School may be asked to assist with national K12 efforts including:

    * Participation in special projects and/or task-forces
    * Development of policies and procedures, training, and curriculum enhancements

Requirements

    * Master’s degree or equivalent work experience
    * Experience as a school administrator, an administrative credential, and/or increasing responsibilities in school administration
    * Strong organizational and time management skills
    * Flexible schedule
    * Very proficient in MS Excel, MS Word, and Outlook
    * Experience using search engines (internet) for research projects
    * Experience using a student information system and/or other type of database preferred
    * Strong written and verbal communication skills
    * Flexible schedule with the ability to travel 

 

Desired Experience:

    * Experience in a private school setting
    * Experience with online learning preferred
    * School administration experience
    * Business understanding
