Job Description:

Brief Description: Assist in the development, maintenance and monitoring of the literacy education program; coordinate literacy activities and provide direct instruction including ABE and GED to UPO customers in the community service centers. Develop and coordinate a curriculum that integrates basic literacy skills with workplace literacy and math. Assist Program Manager in the development of program goals and objectives that promote staff and student accountability; Collect and prepare data detailing the weekly, monthly, and quarterly outcomes and progress of the programs; review staff report forms and student records and provide feedback regarding content and organization to instructors; represent adult literacy department and UPO at local resource fairs by providing information on services offered; establishes and maintain the schedule of classes and program calendar; facilitate professional development training for staff on topics suggested or deemed needed; monitor testing, classes and program events at various site locations; network with local adult literacy organizations including attending training to ensure UPO practices are in line with industry best practices and to seek partnership opportunities; recruit and interview a pool of literacy tutors to assist in instruction and tutoring.

 

Minimum Qualification: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university majoring in Education; Master’s preferred. Three to five year of program management experience a must; valid driver’s license and ability to be insured; marketing experience preferred; ability to work some evenings and weekends required; proficient in MS Office Suite; dynamic communication skills.

 

Other Requirements: In the event that an offer is extended, the candidate will be required to successfully complete a criminal background check and/or FBI Fingerprinting, pre-employment physical examination and drug screening as applicable for the position.

 

 

This position IS in the collective bargaining unit represented by Communication Workers of America CWA). Any regular employee hired in a bargaining unit position, SHALL as a condition of employment, pay union dues and be a union member or pay amount equal to union dues within 30 days after entrance to UPO. ALL bargaining unit employees that are not paying union dues or an amount equal to union dues within 30 days will be terminated.
