Responsibilities    
The Office of Library and Learning Services at Marymount University, Arlington, VA invites applications for a part-time, temporary, Librarian. The successful candidate will assist other members of the Reference and Instruction Teams in providing assistance and instruction to users in identifying, locating, evaluating and using information in/about Library and Learning Services collections and services.

Responsibilities include assisting and instructing library users in identifying, finding and using information in all formats; assisting users and responding to inquiries through a variety of communication formats including in-person, phone, e-mail and instant messaging; creating user information and education materials in a variety of formats; participating in the library instruction and orientation program; informing, instructing and assisting students, faculty and staff about L&LS services, products, policies, and equipment; serving on L&LS functional teams and work groups; maintaining professional working relationships with team members and other members of the university community and additional duties as assigned.

The successful candidate may be responsible for maintaining facilities and equipment during evening and weekend hours if required. 

Minimum Qualifications     Masters of Library Science (or equivalent) from an ALA accredited school. One year of full-time academic library experience, or its equivalent, in reference and instruction is required and a second masters preferred. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills; a thorough knowledge of database searching and web browsers. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects within a fluid work environment are required.

Intermediate computer skills including word processing software, presentation software, and spreadsheet application; working knowledge of features of usual office and/or library equipment and commitment to working collaboratively in a team environment are required. 

This position will be 15-20 hours per week. Applicants must be able Monday and Weds mornings and alternate Saturdays.
