III. JOB VACANCY ANOUNCEMENT INFORMATION      
Job Summary:     To manage activities pertaining to the Communication Services functions which service the University, Resident Housing, Medical Center, hospital, tenants, and off-campus locations. 
Minimum Qualifications:     Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business management or a related field and four years of appropriate experience
Degree requirements may be substituted for an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
Excellent oral and written communication skills

Working Conditions:     The incumbent generally performs job duties in a normal business office environment. This involves working while sitting at a desk for extended periods of time. The job also includes significant event planning and execution, which requires a significant level of physical activity, including standing, walking, and occasionally lifting office supply items that may weigh up to 20 pounds. Additionally, the incumbent may be required to attend meetings in other offices, or deliver and/or retrieve information from other offices around campus.

The ability to operate basic office equipment such as personal computers, duplicating machines, fax machines and standard office telephones may also be required.

Function:
Manages and monitors telecommunications services and/or repair and equipment order change function for all voice, data and video functions assigned, which includes equipment inventory levels and the allocations of such to the appropriate cost center.
Manages activities pertaining to the telecommunication services and products offered to resident hall students to include the long distance program and coordination of all related activities of the service provider; to resale of data connectivity, call waiting, voice mail, prepare-paid calling cards, and other services offered to resident hall students; establishment of student voice mail boxes within the system and monitoring of traffic reports to ensure sufficient lines and disc pace are available for users; and to the summer services program for resident hall students. Manages the telecommunications services and connectivity programs designed for off-campus students.
Trains both Communication Services personnel and departmental users in the use of the Call Management System, voice, data, and video systems.
Assists in developing policies, procedures, goals and objectives pertaining to the operations of the Communications Services Office. Prepares complex written and oral project reports that specify the design parameters, technical and financial analysis; implements plans and transition issues.
Designs publications and promotional strategies that market and promote services offered by ISS
Serves as the student ombudsman pertaining to all telecommunications services offered by ISS. Serves as primary liaison with student groups and student services administrative officers.
Prepares monthly financial reconciliation reports in call accounting system to ensure that all proffered communication services are appropriately billed to GW tenants, Federal grants, and University departments. Conducts feasibility studies that research existing and potential markets to ensure that the market share of services is available to students, faculty, and staff of the University.
Manages the network operations facilities function, which includes the installation, relocation and/or removal, and inventory of remote computer network equipment for the University.
Administers and coordinates activities with outside service vendors to include the establishment of promotions and potential new revenue sources. Performs other work related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
