The International Technology Assessments Product Line is currently seeking an Motivations Intentions & Strategic Factors Analyst with prior or current experience in the military and/or Intelligence Community who possesses a strong background in International Relations, Political Science, Modern History, and Military Strategy. This position is for full-time work at a client site based out of Battelle’s Charlottesville, VA office. Compensation will be based on qualifications and experience. A full benefits package including pension will be offered.
The All Source Intelligence Analyst should have prior experience working in a challenging and dynamic environment in the Intelligence Community. Excellent writing skills and experience writing intelligence assessments derived from a full range of sources is required. The successful candidate must be able to meet deadlines, multitask, and be flexible in a challenging government environment.
Job Requirements:
The All Source Intelligence Analyst will participate in the research and writing of long term studies, and will examine the motivations and intentions of state and/or non-state actors with respect to chemical and/or biological warfare. The candidate is required to follow current events issues relating to subject area(s) of focus and will incorporate a full range of attributes into the motivations and intentions analysis (including politics, international relations, history, economics, culture, ethnicity, and other relevant attributes). A high comfort level using resources available on JWICS and SIPRNET systems is required. All written submissions to the Battelle and Government task leads must be timely, fully researched using all available sources, and fully referenced.
The successful applicant will be required to participate and contribute within brainstorming sessions consisting of participants from varying scientific and technical backgrounds, attend meetings within assigned functional area(s), provide professional input where requested, and provide additional motivations and intentions analysis in support of the long term study as warranted or requested.
The candidate must currently have and be able to maintain a DOD TS/SCI security clearance and cannot possess dual citizenship.
Principal responsibilities:
1. Perform research on Government systems (JWICS, SIPRNET) relevant to motivations and intentions analysis with respect to chemical and/or biological warfare. The candidate is required to follow current events issues relating to subject area(s) of focus and will incorporate a full range of attributes into the motivations and intentions analysis (including politics, international relations, history, economics, culture, ethnicity, and other relevant attributes).
2. Write assessments and conduct research using a Government prescribed format.
3. Deliver assessments in a timely manner.
4. Fully reference all assessments using vetted intelligence sources or Government approved information sources.
5. Participate in brainstorming sessions and meetings that include several highly technical Government scientists and intelligence analysts.
6. Build and maintain a positive relationship with Government SIOs and technical staff.
7. Draft and distribute a weekly Current Events summary relating to topics associated with motivations and intentions analysis and WMD issues.
8. Participate in analytical outreach events relating to motivations and intentions analysis.
9. Use all available sources in research (i.e. databases, Pathfinder, Open Source Center)
Secondary responsibilities:
1. Perform psychological and social analysis of complex data sets to produce detailed reports for national security clients.
2. Perform as a subject matter expert on political and/or cultural influences on state/leadership behavior and conflict resolution.
3. Apply quantitative analytical techniques to organizational psychology or social science activities.
4. Interact daily with Battelle’s Government client providing expert guidance and analysis on the above stated duties.
THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS MUST BE MET TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION:
1. Bachelor’s degree with 5-8 years of relevant experience, OR a Master’s degree with 3-6 years relevant experience OR a PhD with up to 3 years relevant experience. (Degree and experience requirements can be substituted with equivalent related training and experience in civilian or military intelligence.)
2. Ability and willingness to operate in an intellectually challenging environment.
3. Ability and willingness to develop and maintain strategic relationships with senior Government analysts.
4. The ability to thrive in a team environment as team lead or team member.
5. Prior analytical experience in counterterrorism to include in-depth analysis of adversaries’ intentions and motivations.
6. Must have an active DOD Top Secret clearance and an up-to-date PR for SCI access to start.
