The Director of Development will develop, implement and monitor a sustainable

Strategy & Planning
fundraising strategy for the Double the Numbers initiative (DTN) and the District of Columbia
College Success Foundation (DCCSF). This position has a dotted line reporting relationship to
the CSF Chief Development Officer. The Director will provide results-driven leadership,
strategic direction, management and coordination for all fundraising efforts including annual
giving, endowment and capital campaigns, fundraising events, special projects and other
solicitations.

Prepare periodic reports, financial statements and records of development activities.
Evaluate, refine and develop recognition programs, fundraising policies and guidelines,

Expertise in a broad range of development activities, including major donor solicitation,
Demonstrated track record of generating large commitments and closing donor
Significant experience working with individual donors and managing a large portfolio of
Ability to articulate a compelling case for giving in a complex internal and external
Political acumen and diplomacy in developing fundraising and communications strategies
Experience in scholarship management is preferred.

A minimum of eight years of progressively responsible development experience.
Proven success in major donor cultivation and solicitation in a non-profit organization.
Familiarity with financial reports and analysis.
Proficient use of Microsoft Office programs, especially MS Word and MS Excel.
Experience with Raiser’s Edge is highly desired.
