Job Description:

The primary responsibilities of this position are to work as a cooperative member of the Research Enhancement Unit (REU) team to (1) provide pre-award assistance to GW researchers for major, federal agency grants and prestigious/high profile foundation grants; (2) provide financial analysis and budget preparation expertise and guidance in preparing the budget and justification; (3) draft and route necessary forms, internal communications, as well as external letters of support for REU projects; (4) demonstrate leadership to OVPR by providing appropriate and exemplary customer service; and (5) provide targeted, effective problem and process solving to enhance the perception and effectiveness of OVPR and GW's research mission as assigned by REU Director and Associate Vice President for Research. 

A Bachelor's Degree and three years of experience in a related field. 
Desired Qualifications:     1. Bachelors degree and Masters level course work in writing, health sciences, information management, and/or other relevant area of specialization.
2. Progressive experience in participating in the grant writing and application process, preferably including budget planning, with at least four years working in pre-award management.
3. Effective writing skills, communication and strong analytical skills.
4. Professional and team-focused attitude and ability.
5. Attention to detail and ability to present accurate information
6. Strong leadership, interpersonal and teamwork skills to work productively in a matrixed organization
7. Strong customer service skills.
8. Proficiency with personal computers to include spreadsheet, word processing, desktop publishing applications is necessary 
Working Conditions:     The incumbent generally performs job duties in a normal business office environment. This involves working while sitting at a desk for extended periods of time. The job also includes significant event planning and execution, which requires a significant level of physical activity, including standing, walking, and occasionally lifting office supply items that may weigh up to 20 pounds. Additionally, the incumbent may be required to attend meetings in other offices, or deliver and/or retrieve information from other offices around campus.

The ability to operate basic office equipment such as personal computers, duplicating machines, fax machines and standard office telephones may also be required.
