Public Sector Marketing Manager

General Purpose of this Position
The main role of the Public Sector Marketing Manager is to work in partnership with the Public Sector Sales leadership in support of TANDBERG Public Sector business objectives, with a unique focus on State and Local (S&L) markets. This position will develop and execute marketing plans to increase TANDBERG brand awareness and demand generation across Public Sector markets.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Under the direction of the President of Public Sector Sales organization and reporting to the Sr. Manager, Public Sector Marketing, Americas this position assumes ownership and development of the State and Local integrated marketing plan designed to increase brand awareness, drive demand, promote customer retention and help customer acquisition. Responsibilities include:
• Work with the TANDBERG State and Local sales leadership.
• Identify and engage S&L market influencers including associations, government organizations and industry analysts that align to the S&L business plan, and the sales and channel marketing plan.
• Develop, manage and execute an integrated S&L marketing program in alignment to Public Sector business objectives. Tasks include:
o Public relations (and Social Media (required awareness of key online and print publications, and blog and social communities in S&L vertical)
o Thought leadership (conduct original research, book multi-level speaking engagements)
o Case studies and customer relationships
o Tradeshow, conferences and exhibitions (must manage S&L vertical events, often solo)
o Relationship building seminars
o Direct marketing campaigns
o Internal/external telemarketing
o Target customer and prospective contact lists
• Identify customer references consistent with corporate identity, brand message and industry standards:
o Facilitate customer reference development
? Conduct preliminary briefings with sales teams
? Conduct or coordinate customer interviews
? Manage story development and approval process
o Deliverables include:
? Quotes
? Customer references
? Case studies (w/ROI)
? Customer photography
• Develop and execute S&L specific marketing campaigns
• Produce marketing materials including brochures, tradeshow flyers, etc., as needed.
• Maintain close working relationships with S&L Sales Director(s), Account Managers and Public Sector Marketing Sr. Marketing Managers to vet and optimize marketing initiatives.
• Work with Channel Directors and Account Managers to ensure alignment and compliance with channel initiatives.
• Develop and maintain effective collaborative working relations with Americas, Corporate and Product Marketing teams.
• Manage the S&L marketing budget in adherence to corporate policies.
• Measure the effectiveness of marketing programs and adapt as necessary to meet business goals.
• Maintain scorecard and report on key marketing metrics.
• Identify trends in the S&L market; anticipate program needs/challenges; propose creative programs and solutions.
• Work in conjunction with Americas and Corporate Communications PR agencies
• Comply with corporate identity standards; evangelize the corporate messaging and positioning.
• Ensure S&L Sales and Channel teams are fully aware of the various marketing programs and are up to date with latest corporate news.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Strong knowledge of the state and local government marketplace required, strong knowledge of federal government, education and health care markets desired
• Business principles, practices and vocabulary of marketing in the Federal marketplace for high technology products, services and solutions
• Strong project management skills including budget management, priority setting, and time management.
• Leverage marketing tools for maximum results including market research, communications media, and relationship management with stakeholders and industry experts (SME’s),
• Understand customer feedback mechanisms and their use.
• Proactively elicit sales, partner and customer needs.
• Understand demand generation principles, processes and tools
• Possess high energy-level, commitment, and passion for results; the ability to meet deadlines and handle numerous projects at once
• Ability to interact with external vendors and key players inside the Company, S&L and marketing organization.
• Proven creative and strategic marketing abilities; copy writing skills.
• Excellent organization and communication skills and must be a detail-oriented team player.
Computer Ability
• Competency using Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Communicator
• Familiarity with design applications such as Eloqua Email Software, Adobe Photoshop and Quark
• Basic understanding of web site development and technologies
Education & Experience
• Public sector, business-to-government high tech or telecommunications background preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business or a related field preferred. 5+ years for a degreed applicant.
• In lieu of formal education, a minimum of eight years of progressively responsible, directly applicable
experience that enabled applicant to learn to perform the requirements of the position may be acceptable.
Working conditions
• Normal office conditions.
• In-region location required. Travel will be less than = 20% of time
