The Communications Manager oversees the law firm's external communication strategies.  The position supports the Firm's strategic objectives through the management of the media relations program, collateral materials, and the website.  The position works closely with members of the business development team to assist in the development of the written content of externally-focused, practice-related materials.


Responsibilities include:  working with the Director of Marketing to develop and manage the implementation of the strategic communications plan; working with practice group leaders and business development managers to create and implement communications plans for each department/practice area; managing the development and distribution of all press releases; participating in the identification, evaluation and development of media relations pitch angles/campaigns; serving as the clearing house for all media inquiries, working with the Director of Marketing on key messaging; oversees the provision of media training; fosters relationships with the media; coordinates with the Director of Marketing regarding firm crisis communications and messaging; assists attorneys and staff with the creation and editing of by-lined articles, newsletters and other client communications; assists the Director of Marketing in selecting firm PR consultants and managing ongoing relationships; supports the development of key firm and practice area messages; works with outside writers as necessary to create articles, marketing materials and other external communications; manages content of the external website and supervises the Graphic Designer and PR Coordinator.


Qualifications include:  bachelor's degree in a related field; 5 - 8 years in a legal, corporate or political communications/marketing position; strong knowledge of the Atlanta and/or DC markets a plus; proven project management ability; excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to work with senior partners; strong leadership skills; sound judgment, decision making and reasoning abilities; ability to appropriately prioritize tasks and responsibilities as well as meet deadlines; ability to work in a highly organized and efficient manner; detail oriented, with ability to also see big picture; ability to develop and sustain strong relationships and strong Microsoft Office skills.


Firm offers a warm and congenial work environment as well as excellent benefits.  Salary is between $100,000-$130,000.
