Description

  • Designs and develops data structures to store enterprise data. 

  • Supports and develops refactoring solutions for database objects.

  • Maintains databases, including updating statistics, indexing, structure modifications, capacity planning, and index analysis. 

  • Manages database security, logins, users, roles, and object permissions. 

  • Maintains configuration management of database objects. 

  • Works with integrated project teams as project database administrator for large-scale modifications and new product releases. 

  • Plans and executes small-scale database modifications and SQL scripts for bug fixes, data repair, and functionality enhancements. 

  • Assists software engineers and end users with query writing, database access, and general information. 

  • Performs transaction analysis and performance tuning of database applications and batch processes. 

  • Troubleshoots and maintains database encryption and keying. 

  • Confers with management and staff on policies and procedures, technical problems, and priorities that relate to database operations. 

  • Prepares project status/progress reports on assigned activities. 

  • Performs other tasks as assigned consistent with this level of responsibility.



Requirements



  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent working experience. 

  • Minimum of 3 years of database administration and implementation experience with relational database management systems, especially Microsoft SQL Server.

  • Experience with SQL Server 2008 a plus.  As well as having experience with Broker Services and SSIS and other new technologies provided in SQL 2005 and 2008.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems, and other network and software development industry standards, especially .NET.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Cluster Server.

  • Programming experience in SQL and knowledge of data modeling. 

  • Data encryption principles and practices a plus. 

  • Ability to adapt to changes in information technology and quickly learn and utilize new database tools and methodologies. 

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously. 

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. 

  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision or work in a team-oriented project
