Hardware Install Technician

Digicon Corporation, established in 1985, is a full-service Information Technology Integrator and Solutions Provider to both government and commercial customers. Digicon employs approximately 300 employees throughout the Washington metropolitan area, as well as several other major cities across the nation.

 

We are currently in search for (3) three Hardware Install Technicians to work at our client site in Washington, DC. This is a full-time employee position with Digicon Corporation.

Position Description:

The candidate will provide support for a Government Client’s IT equipment hardware refresh in its Washington, DC office.  This work shall include, but not be limited to, unpacking new hardware, configuration, transfer of settings and data from existing equipment to new hardware, delivery and installation of new equipment at the clients offices, removal of old equipment and preparation of old equipment for surplus.  The candidate will assist with trouble-shooting and problem-resolution related to this technical refresh.  Under this task, the candidate may be required to travel at times and work in the Chicago, New York, and/or Kansas City offices.

 

The current client user environment is MS Windows Vista and Office 2007.  Software in use is primarily COTS packages such as: MS Office, MS Outlook and Internet Explorer, and in-house developed applications.

 

    *
      Receipt of new equipment, preparation of equipment for Washington DC installation and repackaging for shipment to regional offices;
    *
      Installation/configuration of new hardware and software to include desktop computers, monitors, scanners, printers, and laptops;
    *
      Troubleshooting and problem resolution as related to the upgrades;
    *
      Removal of old equipment from offices, and preparation of old equipment for surplus;
    *
      Tracking and documentation of all reported problems and service requests;
    *
      Physical inventory of IT asset management;
    *
      Development of standard operating procedures (SOPs) as related to this deployment;
    *
      Coordinate with the DC Customer Support Center Manager, Configuration Manager, Training Director, and other OITS support teams to provide a smooth transition to this new environment.

 

Position Requirements:

    *
      Two years experience in installing computer-based systems, local area networks or communications systems.
    *
      The candidate is required to work some overtime, possible evening shift and weekends as directed by client.
    *
      The candidate must be capable to lift (max 40lb) equipment and be able to relocate them as instucted.
    *
      Travel to regional offices is also required as instructed by the client.
